REPORT A CRIME

If you see a crime in progress dial 911. This will connect you with a dispatcher who will take your information and direct police and other public safety responders to the location of the incident. Please help the dispatcher by answering their questions and providing the information they seek, all of which will greatly help police.

If you are a victim of a crime you should also dial 911. Tell the dispatcher what happened and answer their questions to help speed police and other public safety response.

To help the police in documenting and investigating the incident, if you are able and before police arrive, try and have basic information ready to help in completing the report: name, address, date of birth, phone contact numbers. Also, if possible, have information about items that may have been taken or damaged such as vehicle license and identification numbers or serial numbers and descriptions of personal belongings. And, if you can, jot down a few notes about what took place, what you saw, description of any suspect(s) to help jog your memory when you speak to police.

When you report a crime a police officer will come to your location. You can also choose to have the officer call you to take the report should you wish. And, should it be convenient for you, you can talk with an officer at the police department during business hours or after hours by calling 255-2345 and making arrangements.
