SQUADS and EQUIPMENT
The agency uses a computerized records management system that operates on a department-wide network with officers having access at their work stations and offices. This system also provides Internet service via high-speed connection which allows access to the many law enforcement support systems available, information and intelligence sources, e-mail, police and related websites.
Officers operate a fleet of vehicles all outfitted with modern equipment. Most squads have:
- Warning lights.
- Radio.
- Mobile data computer (MDC).
- Moving radar unit.
- Dash mounted video camera.
- Digital camera.
- Preliminary breath tester.
- Drug field testing equipment.
- First aid kit.
- Cellular telephone.
- Rifle.
- AED.
Officers carry portable radios for communications away from the squad. Two police bikes, equipped with lights and equipment carrying bags are available for special bicycle patrols.
The department also has specialty equipment to assist officers in ther performance of their duties. Night vision goggles, special binoculars, thermal imaging viewer and a tactical viewing/search camera are available for use.
